Product Description
Marine Loading Arm

A Marine Loading Arm is an articulated pipe system for the transfers of liquids or gases. This may be operated manually or hydraulically.

A marine loading arm comprises several components namely: base riser, inboard arm, outboard arm, balancing assembly, supporting structure, and operating system. The articulation is assured by swivel arrangements. These arrangements (or styles) allow for complete movement in all planes. We design and manufacture a wide range of Marine Loading Arms to load and unload almost any liquid and compressed gas product from river barges, ships and ocean going super tankers.

Design Standards

The design of the marine loading arm varies from client's requirements and environment. Users provide design datasheets including terminal tidal range, ship's tonnage, liquid handled, pipeline size, and environmental parameters (wind load, temperature, earthquake loads).

  • Design wind speed (stowed): ≤55M/S
  • Design wind speed (operating): ≤ 16 M/S
  • Earthquake resistance coefficient: 0.3 G
  • Total length: Up to 30 M
  • Vessel Tonnage: 50,000 tons

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the primary function of a Marine Loading Arm?
It is an articulated pipe system used to safely transfer liquids or gases between ships, barges, and shore-based terminals.
2. Can the loading arm handle cryogenic materials like LNG?
Yes, the design supports temperatures as low as -196°C, making it suitable for LNG and cryogenic ethylene.
3. What operation modes are available?
The loading arms can be configured for either manual operation or electro-hydraulic operation depending on the requirement.
4. What materials are used for the pipelines?
Pipelines are typically constructed from carbon steel, stainless steel, low-temperature steel, or lined with PTFE.
5. What is the standard warranty period for this equipment?
The standard warranty is 12 months from the date of startup or 18 months after delivery, whichever comes first.
6. Is the equipment resistant to extreme weather conditions?
Yes, the design accounts for wind speeds up to 55M/S in stowed state and includes earthquake resistance coefficients up to 0.3 G.
