Load Moment Indicator (LMI), also known as a safe load indicator or crane computer, is a critical safety device installed on various cranes including mobile, crawler, tower, gantry, and marine cranes. It alerts operators if the lift exceeds the safe operating range and can physically lock the machinery in unsafe conditions.
The system ensures lifting equipment functions according to the manufacturer's safe load charts, displaying real-time parameters like load weight, working radius, control limits, boom angle, and extension in the cabin.
